Well… here it is.   One thing that they did accomplish in this photo shoot: Saleisha looks about 17 years old despite the fact that she’s really 21, and despite the fact that she looks about 35 in this shot recently posted on CW11 Morning News Blog:

But, back to the first photo… I could totally picture her as a high school cheerleader with that shot.  See?  This is why I don’t think Seventeen Magazine is an appropriate prize for ANTM!  Seriously, I find very little “model”-esque about this shot.  And what is with that pose?  Finally, we take a look at the headlines, which read “Her real life drama is wilder than the show!”  Doubtful, Seventeen… doubtful.

pagesixsixsix over at was kind enough to scan in the rest of the spread… to me, Saleisha looks like she’s in a JCPenney’s catalogue.

What’s up with this?  Is that her only pose now?  Does she think that’s her “signature” pose because that’s what she did on the cover?  There’s a lot about this picture that baffles me — why she looks ten years old in real life… why she’s wearing that hideous outfit… does she have a tattoo on her foot… and what is this “real life” drama that Seventeen thinks is so much more interesting than our beloved ANTM???  The fact that she was raised by her grandmother?  Huh?  Sorry, Seventeen, but there are thousands of kids being raised by their grandmothers nowadays, especially in our urban areas… that’s not exactly shocking, IMO.

Now, just for fun, let’s compare hers to some of the other Seventeen covers from our top models:

Jaslene –
I’m not going to say it’s the greatest pic ever, but at least she doesn’t have some ridiculous cheerleader pose going on, and she doesn’t look 17 years old.  Her face stands out, and she looks rather model-esque.

CariDee –
Okay, I’ll admit, I’m biased… as I’ve said, CariDee is my favorite winner thus far.  I really like this pic, though.  Her face stands out, she looks like a model, and it’s fun without looking like it was taken from a high school yearbook.
Before that time, the prize was a photo shoot with Elle, which was a totally different kind of magazine, so it isn’t very fair to compare those shots.  So, there’s your Saleisha news for the day.

  1. Not that I’m totally impressed, but this is more than I expected when I stumpled upon a link on Digg telling that the info is quite decent. Thanks.
